Blue Springs Marriage Fees

A marriage license from Jackson County costs $50. Certified copies are $10. These are the same fees for all Jackson County residents regardless of which city you live in. The fee is governed by Chapter 451 RSMo and includes portions for the Children's Trust Fund, domestic violence shelters, and county revenue.

Both people must come to the Truman Courthouse together with valid photo ID and Social Security numbers. You must be 18 or older. If you were married before, know the month and year it ended. No blood test. No waiting period. The license works for 30 days anywhere in Missouri. Jackson County lets couples file their own completed license after the ceremony, or the officiant can do it. Either way, it must be returned within 15 days.

Missouri law under Chapter 451 allows clergy, ordained ministers, and judges of courts of record to perform weddings. The ceremony can happen anywhere in Missouri within 30 days of the license being issued. Two witnesses must sign the license. After the wedding, you or your officiant must return the signed license to the Jackson County Recorder within 15 days.
