Search Webster County Marriage Records Online

Webster County has an online search portal at webstermo.icounty.com where you can look up recorded documents including marriage licenses. The portal has records from February 2023 forward. For records before February 2023, call the office or visit in Marshfield. Give staff the name of at least one spouse and the rough date. They will pull the file and can make copies. A certified copy costs $9. Plain copies run a few dollars per page. Mail requests go to PO Box 546, Marshfield, MO 65706. Include names, date, payment, and a stamped return envelope.

Getting a Marriage License in Webster County

Both people must come to the Recorder's office in Marshfield together. Bring valid photo ID and your Social Security number. Missouri has no blood test and no wait. You apply, pay, and walk out with the license that day.

The fee is $51 cash only. No checks and no cards. Make sure you bring cash to the office. Under RSMo 451.090, the license is valid for 30 days and works anywhere in Missouri. After the wedding, the officiant files the signed license with the Webster County Recorder within 15 days per RSMo 451.130.

If either person was married before, they need the month and year that prior marriage ended. Missouri law now requires both people to be at least 18. No exceptions as of August 28, 2025. The Recorder may also have an Absent Applicant affidavit available in cases where one party cannot appear in person due to military service or other qualifying reasons. Webster County Marriage Certificates

The Recorder in Marshfield keeps the original certificates on file. A certified copy from Webster County shows both names, the date, location, officiant, and witnesses. That is the full document. Certified copies cost $9 each. You need them for name changes at the Social Security office, the DMV, insurance companies, and banks.

The Missouri Bureau of Vital Records can issue a Certified Statement Relating to Marriage for records from July 1, 1948 forward. That statement only shows names, date, and county. For the full certificate from a Webster County marriage, you need the county Recorder. You can order the state statement by mail, in person, or through VitalChek online. Under RSMo 193.255, certified copies go only to people with a direct and tangible interest.
